Boston, MA — One person was injured when the wing of a Delta jet clipped the tail of another aircraft on the taxiway of the Boston Logan International Airport. The aviation accident occurred Thursday evening, July 14, 2011, as the planes were preparing for takeoff, reported Fox News.
According to officials, the two planes were on the taxiway, when the wing of the Delta Flight 266 hit the vertical stabilizer of an Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 4904.
The Delta flight was reportedly flying from Boston to Amsterdam, while the other flight was headed for Raleigh-Durham at the time of the crash.
The collision sheared off the tip of the Delta Boeing 767 and crushed part of the other plane’s tail.
One person complained of neck pains following the crash. It was not reported if they were taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Investigations into the plane crash are underway. Both of the planes have been removed from service for inspections.
