San Fernando Valley, CA — Two motorcycle accidents took place during an annual charity event, which left two people dead in the San Fernando Valley area. The motorcycle crashes took place on Sunday, October 23, 2011, with one of the accidents occurring on Interstate 5, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Romario Zeri, 51, of Marina Del Rey and his passenger, Julie Anne Cameron, 38, of Torrance were killed during the “Love Ride,” which is a popular charity event that raises money for children’s charities.
The bikers were killed when they hit the back tire of a tanker truck on I-5, just south of Branford Street. They were subsequently run over and fatally injured.
The fatal crash was the second motorcycle wreck to occur during the charity event.
Just a few hours before the deadly crash, two motorcyclists collided and were taken to a hospital for treatment. They were also taking part in the event.
This is reportedly the first fatality in the 28 years of the event. The charity ride route was from Glendale to Castaic Lake.
CHP investigations into the fatal motorcycle crash are underway.
