Antioch, CA — A helicopter and a small plane clipped one another, injuring the two pilots over Northern California Sunday, February 19, 2012. The aviation accident occurred around 7 p.m., about eight miles from Rio Vista Municipal Airport, reported ABC News.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the cause of the accident and the details surrounding the crash is not immediately known.
The two-seat Robinson R22 helicopter was forced into an emergency landing just off state Highway 160, while the six-seat Beechcraft Bonanza landed in a field near the airport.
Responding emergency crews rushed the male pilot of the single-engine plane and the 29-year-old female helicopter pilot were rushed to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
The female helicopter pilot, and sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained cuts to her hands.
The plane was carrying two people, but they did not report any injuries.
Both of the aircrafts are privately owned, according to FAA records.
Investigations into the aviation accident are underway.
