Los Angeles, CA — A postal worker was killed in an accident that severed his legs around noon Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in the 1100 block of Prado Street in Boyle Heights, reported CBS Los Angeles.
Postal worker Anthony Dunn Jr., 31, of Compton, was reportedly standing near the rear of his van while sorting mail, when he was hit and pinned by another vehicle.
Responding emergency crews rushed Dunn to LA County USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle, Felipe Soto of Escondido, remained at the scene, but was not detained at the time. Investigations are still ongoing and charges are pending.
Soto claims that he swerved to avoid hitting a dog at the time of the crash.
Police discovered that Soto’s license was suspended and impounded his vehicle.
Soto can face felony charges related to the deadly accident.
Investigations are ongoing.
