New York – A suspect has been questioned by police in the death of a New York City subway rider who was pushed into the path of a train. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the suspect was taken into custody, but charges have not yet been filed, after security video was recovered by investigators of a man who fit the assailant’s description.
Ki-Suck Han, 58, was reportedly approached by the suspect, who pushed him after an altercation at the Times Square station.
Freelance photographer R. Umar Abbasi is quoted in the report as stating of watching the events unfold, “I wanted to help the man, but I couldn’t figure out how to help…It all happened so fast.”
Controversy ensued following the publishing of a picture by the New York Post, taken by Abbasi, that showed Han moments prior to his death, reaching up and looking at the train in desperation.
