New Jersey – A federal indictment was released Tuesday related to federal child abuse charges against a New Jersey couple. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), John and Carolyn Jackson of Mount Holly face charges stemming from allegations that they committed acts such as withholding food and water and assaulting their foster children in disciplining them over the course of several years.
The couple, who had three biological children and fostered three children, faces 17 counts in connection with the abuse allegations, with the indictment stating they used, “disciplinary and child-rearing techniques that were neglectful and cruel.”
One of the couple’s foster children reportedly died in 2008, but they have not been charged directly with the child’s death.
The Jackson’s children are purportedly now in the New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families’ custody.
